DMOTE PRINT LAUNCH - SYDNEY

you lose what you don’t hold.

Amen to that brother.

I’ve lost my mobile phone at every single one of the events, Propelle has worked on this year - I managed to recover them each time…be it from underneath hotel beds, service counters, taxi drivers or airlines!

So with this whole idea of holding on to what you have, I was excited to hear about the new range from Austrian design team - Hard Graft.

Titled the NEW HIGH Collection, the seven piece range takes its cue from vintage trouser braces. You’ll find a stylish home for your laptop, phone, ipod and assorted goodies - there’s even a pen holder loop and a Kaweco Sport aluminium ball point pen you can purchase to help fill it.

The collection comes in a fresh new colour scheme featuring pebble grey, wool felt and buttery soft, slate tanned, aniline leather. This is contrasted by a Herringbone black elastic brace and the signature red and white Hard Graft ribbon.

Again, the feel good aesthetics are not just contained to the exteriors - all Hard Graft products are made using beautifully rich sustainable European materials and are hand made to order in Austria.

Luxury finishes with industrial sensibilities - how very Austrian.

now…where did I put my phone…?

SBA Dew series on MTV

Finger on the pulse peeps over at MTV News aired this clip on the SBA Dew Series final..

Skate or Die indeed, Maz!

Get a Life - take some leave!

Tourism Australia (TA) tells us that Australian workers have accrued 123 million days of stokpiled annual leave - which works out to be $33 billion in wages and a mighty amount of Holiday making to be had!

So the folks at TA have devised a new campaign to encourage Australian workers to take some of the leave they’re owed and explore this vast brown land of ours some more.

The ‘No Leave No Life‘ campaign launched last week and to help kick things off there is a great competition that offers participants an Australian Holiday of their choice. There’s 8 holidays to win each week and the great thing is that you get to choose where you go - the prize is $2500 travel credit to book at your local flight centre.

I posed this question on my Twitter - where would you go if you won?

Me? Arnhem Land fo’ sure.

GET A LIFE, people and keep it local!

SbA Dew Series Final sees Juniors wow the crowd!

AUSTRALIA’S brightest new stars in skateboarding lined up at Monster Skate Park in Sydney, yesterday for the Finals of The SbA Dew Series presented by SKATE 2. The event is Australia’s premier Junior skateboarding competition and drew big crowds as the nations best juniors battled it out for the titles.

The 14 years and under boys launched a full day of competition and they certainly weren’t shy in showing the crowds what they’ve got. The youngsters pushed themselves with some ambitious displays on the 1000 square meter indoor street course. In the end it was pint sized sydney sider Ryan Bowen, who had the goods to secure first place after linking some clean combinations throughout the course.

Next up were the 17 years and under Girls, with a small but elite selection of Australia’s most exciting female skateboarders. South Australia  was well represented by young Maddison Harris and it was fellow Adelaide teen, Jenifer Oaks who took out the division. Oaks put on a dynamic display of riding and ended with some gutsy attempts over the 6-set.

The 17 years and under Boys division put on an exciting final and it was here that the West Australian skaters really shon. This was the first year that Skateboarding Australia held trials in Perth and a large contingent of riders and their families made the long trip over. Perth teenager, Joshua McMurry revved up the crowd with an awesome display across the course. Although the competition was tight, McMurry managed to snatch himself the title and was a definite crowd favourite.

Australia’s best sponsored juniors were up for the last final of the day. There was a broad section of riders competing, the youngest at just seven years of age. The favourite coming in was 15 year old Keiran Rielly. Just coming off a win at the Mountain Dew Battle for Supremacy late last year, the Kempsey teen had been setting a buzz in the lead up.

Sydney’s Ryder Lawson put on a mighty challenge throughout the finals and showed himself as a talent to watch. However it was Reilly who came through again in the end to snatch a tight victory over Lawson, for the title of Australia’s best sponsored junior skateboarder.

This is now the third year running for the Sba Dew Series and was the biggest event yet. Although competition was tough the sportsmanship and camaraderie between the kids, proved that Skateboarding is paving a positive path for Australia’s youth

The SbA Dew Series will commence again in December 2009 with a nation wide tour over the school summer holidays.

Kieran Rielly, Australia’s best junior sponsored skateboarder!

Well done to all the crew at Skateboarding Australia and big props to Mountain Dew, Skate 2, Monster Skate Park and all the sponsors for helping to make this event and the series happen!!

Big boys of skate doin’ it for the kids

Australia’s biggest junior skateboarding competition - the SbA dew Series, kicks off tonight with a warm up session followed by a full day of competition on Saturday.

Kids from all over Oz have competed in seven comps over the summer holidays with the hope of securing a spot in the finals event at Monster Skate Park. For many this is a great stepping stone onto a professional career in the sport.

Throwing their support behind the event is a host of pro’s including current world Vert King, Renton Millar and some old guy who was big in the 90’s - Tony Hawk?!

Both Renton and Tony will put on an exciting vert demo after the finals on Saturday and we’re all pretty excited to see what happens when the current vert champion hits the ramps with one of verts original masters!
